    Jun 5, 2010  10 am-5 pm Enjoy a spirited game of vintage base ball (as the sport's name was spelled in the 1860s) as the Wade House home team, the Greenbush Dead Citys, travels to Villa Louis to take on another 1860s-style team. Discounted admission offered on this special day.

By reservation only. A third breakfast event will take place on September 18-19.

  4. War of 1812 in Wisconsin

    Jul 10, 2010 - Jul 11, 2010  10 am-5 pm The War of 1812 came to Prairie du Chien on July 17, 1814, when U.S. and British-Canadian soldiers clashed on what are now the grounds of Villa Louis. Events from the historic event will be interpreted through a living history camp and a narrated battle that will take place each day. The fur trade context in which this battle took place will be further explored through the perspective of Native Americans as well as British and American fur traders. The city of Prairie du Chien will present its annual Fireworks on the River display on Saturday night.

  5. Prairie du Chien Treaty of 1825

    Aug 21, 2010  10 am-5 pm Signed on August 19, 1825, by U.S. officials and representatives of the Sioux, Ojibwe, Sauk and Fox, Menominee, Iowa, Ho-Chunk, Ottawa, and Potawatomi nations, the Treaty of Prairie du Chien tried to eliminate hostilities between the tribes and settlers until separate treaties could be negotiated with individual tribes. Villa Louis has invited a number of tribal members to the site to recall the historic event.

  6. Villa Louis Carriage Classic

    Sep 11, 2010 - Sep 12, 2010  8 am-4 pm (mansion tours 10 am-5 pm) The brief heyday of the Dousman family's famed trotting horse operation, the Artesian Stock Farm, will be recalled during this elegant event, one of the largest carriage driving competitions in the nation. More than 100 drivers hitch finely trained horses of many breeds to new and restored carriages. Events take place in a fenced arena as well as on the lawns and grounds surrounding the Villa Louis country estate. Visitors may also tour the Dousman family home and enjoy full food and beverages service on the mansion lawn.
