  1. Visitor Appreciation Day at Villa Louis

    Jun 2, 2013  10 am–4 pm Celebrate another season of great Wisconsin history at the Villa Louis with tours of the mansion, refreshments and reduced admission.

  2. War of 1812 in Wisconsin: The Battle of Prairie du Chien

    Jul 13, 2013 - Jul 14, 2013  10 am–5 pm The War of 1812 came to Prairie du Chien on July 17, 1814, when U.S. and British-Canadian soldiers clashed on what is now the west lawn of the Villa Louis. Re-enactors will interpret events from the historic event through a living history camp and a narrated battle each day. The battles will begin at 5 pm on Saturday and at 2:30 pm on Sunday.

  3. Villa Louis Carriage Classic

    Sep 7, 2013 - Sep 8, 2013  8 am–4 pm (mansion tours 10 am–4 pm) The brief heyday of the Dousman family's famed trotting horse operation, the Artesian Stock Farm, will be recalled during this elegant event, one of the largest carriage driving competitions in the nation. More than 100 drivers hitch finely trained horses of many breeds to new and restored carriages. Events take place in a fenced arena as well as on the lawns and grounds surrounding the Villa Louis country estate. Visitors may also tour the Dousman family home and enjoy full food and beverages service on the mansion lawn.

  4. Breakfast in a Victorian Kitchen

    Sep 21, 2013  8:30 am–1 pm This is a hands-on cooking workshop for adults. Participants take a culinary tour of the late 19th century through the preparation and consumption of a Victorian breakfast using the foods, utensils and technology of the time. A family style breakfast will be followed by a tour of the estate. By reservation only.

    Nov 2, 2013  2-6 pm Take part in a late-afternoon, hands-on cooking workshop for adults that takes place in the mansion kitchen and preserve house. The menu reflects the ethnic diversity of the servant staff. Reservations required.
